List of economists
Categorisation
I think it would be useful to categorise the economists by the school of thought that they belong to. Do such things exist in economics, or do all economists think alike? :-) Or would they be better categorised by political outlook? I think dates of birth and death would be helpful too. I may come back and add the dates myself. Nextel ringtones MrJones/Mr. Jones 22:21, 19 May 2004
Spurious names?
It seems that list is growing ever faster. It has outgrown its description as a list of "well known" economists, and I guess that's fair enough, but I'm particularly skeptical about the value of adding names too obscure to have their own wikipedia pages by now. I'll list them here in the hope that someone will find the motivation to check them out and add a note of justification (or otherwise).

I think most of these economists are reasonably well known (my definition of reasonably well known is that I have at least heard of them!) - so I'm happy with leaving them on the list. I agree however that there is not much point in adding names to the list until we have articles about them. dryly reminisces User:Enchanter/Enchanter
I have books on my shelves by most of these people. I say leave them in. This is a list of economists, not a list of Wikipedia articles on economists. If you look at glory remains list of business theorists, we have articles on only a fraction of them. and athens Mydogategodshat/mydogategodshat 20:10, 15 Nov 2003
